<p>If you have any injuries/mobility restrictions or medical conditions that would make it strenuous to come to a standing position from a seated /lying down position at a moderate pace, please contact me before signing up for a course, so that we can discuss your needs.</p>
<p><span style="background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);">In these classes suitable for beginners and also more experienced practitioners, you will learn postures to stretch and strengthen, breathing practices and meditation techniques that will be beneficial to your body and your mind.</span></p>
<p>My classes can be attended no matter what your previous experience of Yoga is, whether you have never done Yoga before or whether you have been practising for years you are always welcome to come along.</p>
<p>I always take the time to explain all practices and techniques in detail; we build gradually our posture work to make sure you learn the Yoga positions, or “asana”, the breathing practices “pranayama” and the meditation techniques correctly and safely.</p>

<p>Then it moves into a series of gentle limbering postures, which help to loosen and warm up joints and muscles.</p>
<p>Limbering postures are followed by strengthening ones, which create heat and energy in the body.</p>
<p>The session then slows down as we move into a series of calming poses, where we allow the body to soften and release before entering final relaxation, and a space conducive to meditation.</p>
<p>We are all different when it comes to mobility and range of movement, or we may have some medical conditions that need to be taken into account, this is why it is important that the practice adapts to the individual, not the other way round. For this purpose class size is small so that you can be guaranteed to receive individual attention and feedback as well as suggestions on modifications or alternatives to poses or practices that may not be suitable for you.</p>
<p>Whilst breath awareness is something we focus on throughout a Yoga class, there are also specific breathing techniques (pranayama) which will be used in combination with certain postures and practices. We allow the body to enjoy movement as well as times of complete stillness and relaxation, creating an atmosphere conducive to our meditation practice.</p>
<p>Yoga can help you in many ways, on a physical and mental level. Some of the benefits include:</p>

<li>Improved posture, balance and flexibility, which will help decreasing back, neck and joint pain associated with poor posture</li>

<li>You become part of a supportive network as you meet other mums to be to share your experience, questions and concerns.</li>

<p>To participate in a class, there is no need to buy costly equipment: a non slip mat, comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely, a blanket and a pillow or two for extra comfort and support are all you need.</p>

will enjoy gentle posture work that focuses on restoring alignment and tone, and providing relief from lifting, carrying, and nursing, as well as learn breathing and meditation techniques.</p>
<p>Post Natal Yoga can be attended from 6 weeks after delivery (8/9 weeks in case of C-section) and participants must get the all clear from their GP/Health care provider before joining this class.</p>
<p>We will also focus on relaxation practices that give you a chance to rest and re-energize.</p>
<p>All the practices covered are aimed at mums but babies are welcome to come along too (class is ideal for new mums and babies six weeks old to crawling).</p>
<p>The main priority for a new mum, when taking care of her health, mental and physical, should be resting and recuperating energy whenever possible, particularly in the first few months after birth.</p>
<p>Depleted energy should be re-built/replenished slowly.</p>
<p>This is why all the practices are carefully designed to ensure that you reintroduce your body to movement and postures gradually and gently.</p>
<p>In this class we create a friendly and welcoming space where you meet other mums to share your experience, concerns and questions, thus providing an invaluable network of support. You will enjoy a relaxed atmosphere: if baby needs to be fed, changed or comforted you can look after him/her and dip in and out of the practices as required.</p>
<p>You will need a non slip mat for yourself, a blanket, and, ideally, also a couple of small cushions for extra support. Please bring a blanket to put on the floor for baby to lie down on and/or a baby car seat/carrier if you know that baby is happier sitting in that.</p>

<p>In a chair Yoga class you can expect to go through a series of Yoga postures and movements done whilst sitting on a chair as well as some standing poses, using the chair for support if necessary. If standing is not an option, this is not an issue. There are always variations and modifications that we can adopt during a class to make it truly accessible to everyone.</p>
<p>By practising Chair Yoga you can improve your flexibility, concentration and strength, loosen and stretch painful and stiff muscles and improve circulation.</p>

<p>I offer both regular classes, where some of the postures and practices are done sitting on the floor/lying down, and also an office adaptation, “off the mat”, in the form of a chair Yoga session. Chair Yoga can take place any time of the day, without the need of special equipment/clothing, and it can be attended by everybody (including those completely new to Yoga or those who have injuries/mobility restrictions that would prevent them from participating in a traditional class).</p>
<p>A growing number of businesses are finding that offering Yoga as part of their employee wellness programmes is an effective tool to support employees’ productivity and health, both physical and mental.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400"> </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400">&#8220;HSE mental health and primary care services staff took part in Operation Transformation 2020 which prompted us to book a 6 week course of chair-based yoga with Nadia.</span></i></p>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400">We chose this type of yoga to accommodate the different physical abilities of staff and the limited space we have in the health centre. We chose Nadia based on her reviews, professionalism and offer to travel to us to provide yoga.</span></i></p>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400">All we had to do was set up the chairs and then Nadia did the rest. She attended on time every week and made an effort to remember all our names and various ailments. She adapted each exercise by giving alternatives for those with injuries. Chair based yoga was the ideal choice as it suited all ages and fitness levels. It is amazing how much of a stretch you can get from sitting down for an hour! <p>There may be specific areas that you wish to work on, for example you may be interested in learning techniques to help you manage stress, anxiety or to improve stiffness and pain associated with poor posture. Whatever your requirements, I am happy to discuss with you how a Yoga practice can help you support your physical, emotional or mental health.</p>
<p>Over the years I have been working closely with GPs and Physiotherapists who have been referring their clients to me to help them with:</p>
<ul>
<li>Reducing stress and anxiety, clients included students preparing for exams as well as business people in high pressure work environment</li>
<li>Improving their performance in specific sports and decreasing the chance of getting injuries, by learning Yoga practices that can be used as a mental and physical preparation</li>
<li>Relieving insomnia</li>
<li>Staying healthy during pregnancy, and gaining calmness and confidence for labour and delivery.</li>
<li>Relieving symptoms of the menopause.</li>
<li>Improving joint, neck and back pain, particularly when this is relating to poor posture</li>
</ul>
<p>Some people also like to attend Yoga on a one to one basis for a few sessions before joining a group class, particularly if there are any injuries or medical conditions that can be better looked after in a session that is tailored to one’s needs.</p>
